Full description

Nestled in the heart of the highly sought-after seaside village of Felpham, Candle Villa is a delightful three-storey Victorian home enjoying an elevated position just a short stroll from the beach and an excellent selection of local amenities. Residents can enjoy a wonderful selection of cafés, traditional public houses, a popular delicatessen, independent shops and a variety of takeaway options, while the picturesque seafront offers beachfront eateries and scenic coastal walks.

Offering a wealth of character and charm, with many original features retained throughout, the accommodation is both generously proportioned and beautifully versatile.

The internal accommodation comprises an entrance hall with original attractive tiled flooring, leading through to the elegant sitting room. Double doors open into the dining room, allowing the spaces to flow seamlessly when entertaining, while also offering the flexibility of creating a more intimate and cosy atmosphere when closed. Each room features a fireplace, offering all the period charm and character of the Victorian era.

The kitchen, affectionately referred to by the current owner as the “living kitchen”, perfectly reflects its role as the true heart of the home. Generously proportioned, this inviting space offers ample room not only for cooking but also for informal dining, socialising, and entertaining. French doors open directly onto the rear garden, creating the perfect connection between indoor and outdoor living.

A practical utility room is conveniently located off the kitchen, providing additional storage and laundry facilities. Completing the ground floor accommodation is a cloakroom.

The first floor is home to two double bedrooms, both benefiting from fitted wardrobes. The principal bedroom is particularly impressive and is complemented by a nearby dressing/vanity room, providing an ideal space for storage and personal preparation. Adjacent to the principal bedroom is the beautifully appointed family bathroom, which offers a luxurious retreat featuring a free-standing roll-top bath, separate shower cubicle and twin wash hand basins. Bedroom two also enjoys the luxury of its own en-suite bathroom, complete with double wash hand basins.

Stairs rise to the second floor where a versatile landing area offers the perfect space for a home office or fourth bedroom area. An additional double bedroom completes this floor.

Outside, the front garden provides an attractive spot for a table and chairs, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or evening drink. The rear walled courtyard style garden has been thoughtfully designed for ease of maintenance and is filled with an abundance of pretty coastal planting. A timber gate provides access to two private parking spaces situated behind the property.

Combining period charm with practical family living, and set within one of the area's most sought-after coastal villages, this delightful home presents a rare opportunity to enjoy the very best of village and seaside living.

Why live in Middleton-on-Sea?

The development of modern Middleton began after World War I, when Captain H Rowlands S Coldicott purchased great swathes of farmland with a plan to create both a residential estate and a village community.

This led to the development of the private Sea Lane Estate, which is still a sought-after residential area today thanks to its proximity to the sea and local shops. There are also many pretty thatched properties in the area along with small retirement apartments, bungalows and large family homes that enjoy direct access to the sea while, in neighbouring Felpham, we have the glorious private Summerley Estate.

Middleton-on-Sea is within easy reach of Chichester and Bognor Regis and is a perfect setting for family life. We have two local schools, including the Bishop Tufnell Primary School and the Felpham Community College for secondary students, along with a day nursery for pre-school children. We also have a good range of shops for such a small village, including coffee shops, a Post Office, a family butcher, a general store, newsagent, fish and chip shops, gift shops, a florist and some friendly pubs.

At low tide, Middleton-on-Sea’s sandy beach stretches from Littlehampton to Bognor Regis and is a favourite for local dog walkers and those who enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity of the sea.  Elmer Sands, a mile east of Middleton, is a particular beauty spot, enhanced by the interesting rock islands that were built as a sea defence two decades ago and which have left rock pools and safe areas for swimming and beginner water sports. Over in Felpham you’ll find beachfront cafés, the Arun Leisure Centre, which has a swimming pool and a well equipped gym, and public tennis courts next to the Promenade.
