GG The Wonder Car gets final refine

With only a few more days before engines start for the 2017 Screwball Rally to Italy on 21 September, 'GG The Wonder Car' is being finely tuned… and those all important stickers are being added.

GG will soon be ready to head off from Chichester for the fundraising adventure across Europe and back.

The team of three partners from our land and rural teams - Martin Curry, David Adams and Simon Lush - will be setting off in the 20 year old BMW to raise money for The Aldingbourne Trust as one of the 90 teams in this year’s Screwball Rally.

Each car in the rally has to cost less than £750 so a little mechanical knowledge will go a long way over the five day challenge and the team are also counting on a healthy dose of good luck and good weather to see them through.

Destinations include Nancy, France; Lake Como, Italy; Liechtenstein; Luxembourg ending in Dover on Monday 25 September, all being well.

“We won’t know the precise route until the day before the rally,” said Martin, “But we do know where we’ll be camping overnight before the following day’s travels. While we’re pretty confident about our map-reading skills, we’ve had to put in a fair few hours to refine our lovely old car, now named ‘GG The Wonder Car’, in order for her to get us there and back without too much trouble - hopefully!”

All the entry costs, including buying the car, fuel and campsite costs have been met by Martin, David and Simon so that all of the sponsorship money raised can go straight to The Aldingbourne Trust.

“We’d love to raise as much as we can for The Aldingbourne Trust who do such amazing work year round, so we’re grateful for every sponsorship amount, large or small, which will make a real difference for the Trust,” Martin added.
