Seven take on a 70 mile Isle of Wight Challenge for St Wilfrid’s Hospice

Taking on the ambitious challenge of cycling a 70 mile circular route around the Isle of Wight is a brave team of seven from the Henry Adams Development Land & Planning division.

The cyclists, including partners of the company David Adams and Martin Curry, are planning to raise £1700 in sponsorship for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester.

“The route is both on and off-road and unfortunately it’s quite hilly in some places so it’ll be quite tough although we’re hoping to have the wind at our backs,” said Martin.

Last year we cycled 50 miles along the South Downs Way to raise money for the Dreambuilding at St Wilfrid’s which is now nearing completion, so now we’re getting back on the saddle on 28 June to fundraise for the actual running of the hospice so their fantastic team can help even more local people in need.”

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is the chosen charity of Henry Adams for 2019. The new hospice buildings will soon be opening their doors to first class facilities including 18 fully ensuite bedrooms, a day hospice, gym, art therapy room and separate treatment rooms.

However the independent local charity continues to rely on donations for everything from nursing wages and medical equipment to gas & electric bills, which together costs around £7.7m each and every year, so every pound counts.

Taking part in the Isle of Wight Cycle Challenge along with the two Henry Adams partners, will be colleagues Peter Cleveland, Chris Locke, Martin Trundle, Vicki Turnbull and Ellie White.

The Henry Adams team’s first sponsor is the charity for the UK property industry, Agents Giving, which is focused on supporting national and local causes and has donated a generous £170.

“We’re grateful to Agents Giving for getting us off to such a strong start,” Martin added. “And we’re already training every Monday evening around Chichester so if you see us, give us a wave, or better still, please donate to our St Wilfrid’s fundraising campaign. We really appreciate every donation, no matter how small.”
