Full description

A quirky and characterful upside down house, enviably situated along a private beachfront road with sea glimpses and direct access to the waterfront via a number of charming twittens leading to the water’s edge, ideal for those with a love of coastal living and water activities.

Approached via a gravel driveway, the property offers bright and versatile accommodation with the principal living space positioned on the first floor to take advantage of its elevated setting and outlook. The semi open-plan sitting room and kitchen feature large south-facing picture windows and double doors opening onto a wrap-around roof terrace extending along two sides of the property. Although the terrace would benefit from some repair and updating, it offers a wonderful space for outdoor dining, entertaining or simply relaxing whilst enjoying views towards the sea across the road. A bathroom is also located on this level.

On the ground floor are three double bedrooms and a family bathroom fitted with both a bath and separate shower cubicle. Bedroom one benefits from fitted wardrobes, whilst bedroom three enjoys double doors opening directly onto the rear garden.

The garden is predominantly laid to lawn with mature planting and established bordering shrubs, creating a private and peaceful outdoor space. The property also benefits from a substantial garage measuring in excess of 25ft in length, offering excellent storage, workshop potential or space for water sports equipment.

Whilst the property does require some updating and improvement it presents an exciting opportunity for buyers looking to create a unique coastal home. Equally suited as a main residence, holiday retreat, or for those looking to upsize or downsize. This delightful home is also offered to the market with no onward chain.

Estate Charge: We understand the estate charge is currently £130 p.a.

Why live in Middleton-on-Sea?

The development of modern Middleton began after World War I, when Captain H Rowlands S Coldicott purchased great swathes of farmland with a plan to create both a residential estate and a village community.

This led to the development of the private Sea Lane Estate, which is still a sought-after residential area today thanks to its proximity to the sea and local shops. There are also many pretty thatched properties in the area along with small retirement apartments, bungalows and large family homes that enjoy direct access to the sea while, in neighbouring Felpham, we have the glorious private Summerley Estate.

Middleton-on-Sea is within easy reach of Chichester and Bognor Regis and is a perfect setting for family life. We have two local schools, including the Bishop Tufnell Primary School and the Felpham Community College for secondary students, along with a day nursery for pre-school children. We also have a good range of shops for such a small village, including coffee shops, a Post Office, a family butcher, a general store, newsagent, fish and chip shops, gift shops, a florist and some friendly pubs.

At low tide, Middleton-on-Sea’s sandy beach stretches from Littlehampton to Bognor Regis and is a favourite for local dog walkers and those who enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity of the sea.  Elmer Sands, a mile east of Middleton, is a particular beauty spot, enhanced by the interesting rock islands that were built as a sea defence two decades ago and which have left rock pools and safe areas for swimming and beginner water sports. Over in Felpham you’ll find beachfront cafés, the Arun Leisure Centre, which has a swimming pool and a well equipped gym, and public tennis courts next to the Promenade.
