Brilliant Bookmarks!

The children at Camelsdale Primary School showed great enthusiasm for books and reading by taking part in a Bookmark Designing Competition with Henry Adams, Haslemere during their Book Week. James Grillo, Partner at Henry Adams Haslemere was delighted to sponsor the event and he, together with Dee Tickner, our Community Liaison Coordinator had a very difficult choice selecting only two winners from each class.

James Grillo comments, ‘The creativity and ingenuity of the designs submitted by the children at Camelsdale School for the Henry Adams book mark competition was fantastic.  To help celebrate Book Week, we felt that getting the children to design and create their own book marks would be great fun, we just weren’t ready for the quality and the number of entries – the children really surpassed themselves and choosing who to award the books we donated as prizes to was incredibly hard – the competition was stiff.  We are now displaying the winning entries in the window of our Haslemere High Street office and would like to extend our thanks to all the children who entered the competition – well done.’

Using any materials they wished the children were asked to design and make a bookmark recommending their favourite book or author; designs were to be colourful and eye catching with a little bit of imagination too, ‘try to be a bit different’ was the message given!

The results were stunning and very imaginative, many of the children had taken part in the challenge and produced some very cleverly designed and thought through bookmarks. Winners included a cut out book which spun within the bookmark, a pompom with a woollen page keeper, the Far Away Tree made from pipe-cleaners and felt, Harry Potter with his own finger knitted scarf and many, many more amazing designs.

Head teacher Sarah Palmer, James and Dee visited each class in turn to announce the winners and present them with books as prizes and Henry Adams rosettes. Every child who took part was awarded a certificate of thanks from Henry Adams.

What a fabulous competition, a huge “thank you” from Henry Adams to all the talented children in Camelsdale School for taking part with such enthusiasm.
