Colours of the year for 2019

Spiced Honey has been announced as the Dulux Colour of the Year for 2019 so if you’re thinking of decorating then take a look at this warm amber shade which was inspired by the beauty and versatility of honey itself.

“Honey can be soothing or calming, cosy or vibrant, depending on the palette you pair it with,” according to Dulux.

Working with architects and international design experts, the colour specialists from Dulux discuss global trends and transform their insights into one key colour. They then select four colour palettes with a mood and style for different tastes.

With it’s soft golden tones, it can look peaceful or chic according to the other colours it’s used with.

Farrow & Ball recommends richer and more dramatic colours with a touch of nostalgia - colours which ‘not only enrich homes but also the soul’.  De Nimes is a complex blue with a familiar grey tone and Sulking Room Pink  is not overtly pink thanks to its grey undertone which together creates a soft, powdery and warm colour.

Both De Nimes and Sulking Room Pink were introduced by Farrow & Ball last September and are their ‘must have’ colours to update your home in 2019.

Another major design authority is Pantone, which has just declared ‘Living Coral’  as it’s colour of the year for 2019. It brings to mind lovely summer sunsets although Pantone describes it as ‘an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energies and enlivens with a softer edge’.
