We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s Emsworth Community Christmas

For people who would otherwise be alone at Christmas, Emsworth Community Christmas will once again be hosting a free and festive event for over 100 guests thanks to local resident Jessica Bateman and her team of willing volunteers and sponsors.

Now in its fourth year, the Christmas Day event takes place at Hewitt’s in Emsworth. Volunteers provide transport to enable people to attend between 11am and 4pm for a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and traditional festive fun. Every guest goes home with a gift and memories of a special day to treasure.

Vicki Turnbull of our Land Department helped out on Christmas Day last year and is already supporting the preparations for this year’s event.

“It’s a chance for people to make new friends and to create bonds in the community that can last well beyond a single day,” said Vicki.  “Anyone on their own is welcome, it’s not dependent on age or religion. You may be retired, bereaved, separated or simply find yourself alone this Christmas.”

Offers of help leading up to the day, at the event itself and afterwards are welcomed, even for a couple of hours. It costs on average £28 for someone to spend the special day with the Emsworth Community Christmas so donations towards the catering, or gifts of crackers and decorations are greatly appreciated. Henry Adams is delighted to add our support for the event alongside other sponsors which we hope will be another great success.

Vicki added, “This is a wonderful day, bringing the community together to share the true meaning of Christmas and having a lot of fun at the same time.

“If you know anyone who you think might enjoy this day too, please encourage them to get in touch. People living alone can often be quite isolated and may need encouragement but they can be sure of a warm Christmas welcome here.”

Booking is essential by telephoning 07521 939202 or book online. To contribute or if you have any other queries e-mail Jessica Bateman at  emsworthcommunitychristmas@yahoo.com.
