The Queen's Long Reign

What a day of celebrations! Vivien Wakefield, manager at our Henry Adams branch in Haslemere and Dee Tickner, our Community Liaison Coordinator were privileged to be invited to Camelsdale Primary School to join in their celebrations of the Queen’s Long Reign. On this momentous occasion in British history the Headteacher, Sarah Palmer made certain that the day was both exciting and relevant for the children by planning a variety of activities for them to enjoy. An extraordinary Queen’s long dance on the school field saw 250 children and adults all dancing together; it was no mean feat to organise and great fun was had by all. Returning to school they donned their beautiful crowns and all ate lunch together in the school hall, while Vivien and Dee chose many of the children with beautifully crafted homemade crowns to be awarded Henry Adams rosettes. Sarah Palmer remarked what a wonderful opportunity the day had afforded for the children to discover more about their royal family and how she hoped they would remember this day for years to come. The children are subsequently writing to Her Majesty to share news of how they celebrated her long reign; we’re sure she will be both surprised and delighted to hear what they have to say!
