Nitrate Mitigation Land - Chichester Harbour Fluvial/River Lavant Catchments

Andrew Thomas

Rural and Valuation Surveyor

Full description

Nitrate Mitigation Land at Chilgrove Farm, Chilgrove, West Sussex. 19.18 hectares of arable land - no freehold acquisition. New housing developments in the Solent/Chichester Harbour area are now required to show Nitrate Neutrality. This is the first scheme of its kind in the UK whereby house builders need to calculate the additional nitrogen caused by their development and if necessary, mitigate the impact by reducing nitrogen levels on farmland. Natural England and Local Authorities are encouraging developers to enter into arrangements with farmers to take land out of agricultural production. The Rural & Farming Department at Henry Adams are pleased to act for Chilgrove Farm, who are willing to work with a developer and can surrender nearly 20 hectares of cereal land for conversion into woodland habitat.
