Local Area
Burpham village is situated in the heart of the South Downs near to the ancient, historic town of Arundel in West Sussex. Together with some outlying dwellings, Burpham and Wepham together form the civil parish of Burpham. You will find a quiet village with its ancient village green and cricket pitch sitting inside an ancient Saxon Fort. It is from this that the village derives its name, Burpham, a combination of the Saxon words Burgh (fort) and Ham (village).
The village has a great pub, The George at Burpham, and a lovely Norman church. On the green you will find the village hall commanding an excellent view of the cricket pitch, plus outstanding views of Arundel Castle just 3 miles away.
